AT Section Scott Farm to Duncannon
The 1st clip of the video was shot on my phone and I'm not sure why it is such bad quality so please excuse that. The rest of the video is of my normal level.
With that aside come tag along as we continue our efforts to finish out the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania. We have Kurt and Shadow along with us for this hike and it made for a great time. We spend some time hanging out in the shelter with other hikers. Overall the hiking is what we have come to expect from southern PA well maintained mostly smoother trail which the feet are thankful for.

Kentucky Trip '24 - PT2 Dinosaur World and Onyx Cave
Переглядів 822 місяці тому
On day 2 we decide to take the kids to Dinosaur World this place looked cool from the road and as soon as our Sapling saw it we knew we had to go. But lets be honest I was as happy to check that place out as the kids. After which we reconnect with the girls from Iowa and we head to Onyx Cave to get a cave tour in. This was a fun 30 minute experience that was perfect. All out first timers to cav...
Kentucky Trip '24 - PT1 getting there

First of all I'm sorry for some of the scratchy effects in the audio I'm using a new tripod/ selfie stick. I'm not sure what is causing it at the moment. Join us as we make our way to Mammoth Cave National Park to camp with some friends for a 3 night 4 day trip. This is a family friendly vacation with hanging out at camp, exploring a cave, Dinosaur World, and of course some hiking.

I recently learned that Nalgene has a custom option if you order from their website. I wasted no time checking this out and ordered one.
Groove Life vs Knot Theory battle of the silicone rings

Here is a side by side comparison of two top silicone ring makers. I've put both through similar abuse over roughly a years time.
AT Section Hike Clarks Ferry to PA Rt325
Переглядів 313 місяці тому
Today I set foot on the Appalachian Trail this time to fill in a section that will catch me up to Panda. This bring us one step closer to being able to finish the Pennsylvania section of the trail together. After my last trip my tripod broke until I find a replacement I like I have brought out my trekking pole mount. I haven't used that set up in years.
Slide Mountain - Catskills Dayhike
Переглядів 294 місяці тому
With Panda wanting to visit the Catskills again this time our destination is Slide the tallest mountain in the Catskills. With a detour to pick up Kurt we head to NY. We expected to see some snow but the amount that this section of the Catskills has was a pleasant surprise. The week before we visited Kaaterskill Falls and there was no snow. Come tag along as we take in this winter wonderland in...
AT Hike - Pinnacle and Pulpit Rock 2024
Переглядів 1355 місяців тому
Very small section this time around 8.5 miles. One of my favorite day hikes in PA but today we set out with the goal to join two sections of the AT together for Shadow. This gives him a nice stretch completed as he works towards completing the state.
Nescopeck State Park - Wood Frog Loop
Переглядів 305 місяців тому
Just a quick morning hike after work in between rain storms. Made for a nice hike and I got to check a new trail off the list.
Salt Springs State Park - Gorge Hike 2024
Переглядів 386 місяців тому
Today we visit Salt Springs State Park here in Pennsylvania. Panda and I take a short hike that has no shortage of views as we use two trails to loop around the gorge section of the park.
Adirondack Winter Trip Day 2 - Avalanche Lake
Переглядів 356 місяців тому
With rain in the forecast we day hike to Avalanche Lake. This is a beautiful area back in 2022 Panda and I backpacked through here in the summer for her birthday. It was great getting to see it in a different season and getting Kurt out there.

AT Shippensburg Road to Pine Grove Furnace State Park

Another trip where there is a storm forecast to move in on day 2. With this in mind we plan our trip planning for a shorter section and an easy day out in the rain.
AT Section Hike - Eckville Shelter to Port Clinton
Переглядів 987 місяців тому
With rain in the forecast we decide to change the planned 3 day trip into a 2 day trip. This section allows us to use a side trail to cut down the overall mileage making it an easy adjustment to the plan. With the storm that moved in the next day this was the right call to make so it all worked out.

Over the hump! I like this section…poor Harry Potter 🤣🤣
Looks like a nice section to hike. I'm hoping to get on the AT this fall for a few days hikes.
Really nice section of the AT here in PA. You were close to my house relatively speaking. Great video!
WoW! That’s Incredibly Awesome And Breathtaking Adventure! I Loved it! 🤩❤️✨
It was so nice to meet everyone. This trip was so long coming, you and Panda are the hosts with the most for sure.
I had a blast and a very long overdue camp out for sure. I'm glad everything finally lined up. Now the only question is where to me meet for the next one? I think coming out your way seemed to interest the rest of the group.
@@DragonRoams That would be great! We have so much land to play on.
Too bad we didn't go to dinosaur world but that cave was perfect.
It's funny I love dinosaurs so I knew I would like it as much as the kids. If I had any idea it was as cool as it was I would have tried to talk you guys out of your hike more. The cave was the perfect tour for the 1st timers glad Panda found that instead of doing on of the longer ones.
Very cool trip in. That tower, holy cow, I got vertigo just watching. Great job
Thanks. The tower was a much need leg stretcher. It made for a cool little stop.
It was a great time❤
Agreed. It was nice getting to meet and hangout.
Those were fun hikes and a great time hanging out with everybody.
It was a nice sample of what the area has to offer. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend and company to spend it with... well maybe less car issues would have made it better lol
We miss you guys!
We miss you guys as well. We will have to figure out the next time we can hang out.
That waterfall and the rocks were beautiful.
Kentucky in general is a beautiful state I have spent a lot of time there over the last ten years. Mammoth is in a really nice forested part of the state. We barely scratched the surface. If you haven't been there it's worth checking out.
Awe, wish I would of went to see the Dinosaurs. But the cave was fun.
When we drove by the place we knew it was a must for the kids so they could just be kids. It was still fun for us big kids. I really enjoyed the cave it's been awhile since I was in one. I think the 1st timers in our group did very well with it.
This looks like a great place to visit with family.
It was all the kids big and small had a great time.
That was a fun day. That animatronic dino was really well done.
Great to revisit the dinosaur park and the cave!
Interesting art! Love stuff like that!
Agreed it was cool to check out.
That tower was really cool. We have a lot of catwalks at work, some pretty darn high up, and you can see straight through below your feet. Sketchy. This trip was so fun and we can't wait for the next one!
That stop was totally worth it. Yeah man we had a blast now we have to come up with ideas for the next one.
That observation tower looked awesome. Looking forward to seeing more of your trip to Kentucky.
It made for a nice stop to stretch and see something interesting. We tried the toasted rice krispies while on this trip it was a hit with the group.
Fun start to an awesome trip. It was great just getting to hang out with everyone.
Agreed
Dragoon. howdy?~that's fantastic , =)
Thanks for stopping by.
Your design looks great. I also like the Nalgene bottles and they hold up very well. I have one that is several years old that I still use.
Thanks it turned out great. Very happy with the quality of the bottles we have the custom option just makes them that much more appealing.
Cool. I can't remember where my rings are. One is a silicone ring. They're somewhere.. 😂
Little things like that are easy to misplace. Mine end up on a shelf when not in use. If they aren't there that means a cat is playing with it.
I really like my Nalgenes. We use them all the time. Good to know man.
They are a solid container and the custom option just makes them a more appealing choice.
That came out great…I need to check them out. 🤓
The quality it what I expected I'm pretty happy with it.
I like that 👍🏻👍🏻
It's a cool option.
That's pretty cool, I didn't know they did that
This one is under the radar I'm surprised we don't see more out there.
These look like a great option for when you are active. I wear my traditional ring all the time because it's not super fancy - but I still worry sometimes that I might lose it. Might have to get one of these.
More options usually isn't a bad thing. If you mostly wear your normal ring then this extra bit might help you out. My wife still has her original knot theory with only minor wear and aging. She has an office focused job so her silicone band gets less abuse than mine does.
Nice hike man!
Thanks this was a big one to check off.
That spring of 1000 steps must have sucked in that heat
Wow! This was crazy!
Crazy how much snow is on the trails and in that area in April. Really loved the shot of the snow covered branches and the bit of blue sky peeking through.
Winter hiking is so peaceful after snowfall, great day hike with incredible views. New shoes and spikes worked great for you. Thanks for bringing us along 🤠🌲☕
Oh man, you got pummeled by that ice 😂 Awesome hike, really glad we got Slide in the snow... Unexpected bonus.
hello my new friend thanks for sharing the video
Nice hike where you got hitched!!
WoW! Absolutely Stunning And Breathtaking!
It really is a beautiful spot.
Nice views and blue skies 👍🏻
Yeah man doesn't get much better than this.
@4:48 so that’s where PA spawns all its rocks! 😂 Have you ever been to the cave under Pinnacle?
That's just a decoy so people don't find the real one can't have them taking our rocks away. I have not been to the cave. We mentioned it during our break at Pinnacle but I think Adam has been to it.
The weather has been so amazing lately. Fantastic views
It really has been good. I was hoping for more of a winter but I'm ready to embrace warmer weather.
Rattle Snakes & Buzzards ...Beautiful weather ,Nice Views .See you next time.
Thanks for tagging along.
Hello from the Drone Horizon channel Sending support and a new sub your way 😀😀
Thanks for swinging by.
Nice after work hike!
It was perfect for the situation.
Beautiful area! Nice one man!
Forgot how nice it is there definitely need to check out more of the park.
Nice finish to this one man! Looked fun!!
Thank you bud it was a good time. Nice to finally mess around with the snowshoes.
Some squishy parts there!
Most of the trails I've seen there suffer from that after even a little rain.
Looks like a good short hike. With the time change, it really makes it possible now to get out in the early evening for a hike. It's something I want to do more of too.
It was a nice quick one. They have another quick one that I plan to do soon. The time change is a welcome thing.
It's nice that you have that park so close. There are some nice trails there, don't think I've done this one though.
I need to take advantage of these closer parks more often.
What a wonderful place to hike a nice place to make maple syrup. I live near Syracuse the salt city, they use to evaporate water to get salt and ship it off on the Erie canal. Could of been the 20 degrees that took out the go pro batteries. My drone doesn't like it's battery cold, throws errors and doesn't last as long. Beautiful reflection and waterfalls.
It's a nice spot if you find yourself in the area. I've heard of salt mines and such but it was interesting to learn how they braves evaporated the water to harvest the salt. I've noticed by older batteries seem to be the ones effected by the cold.
Looks great guys. What a nice place to hike Sending support and a new sub from Australia
Thank you for tagging along with us.
Glad to see they got that bridge replaced, it was gone last time I was there. Not only is it common for people to hike up the stream, but (as far as I know) it is the only Pennsylvania State Park to have an official trail that uses the creek as the trail going up the falls. This is most likely because of the other "only PA State Park" fact, it's the only PA State Park that the DCNR has no administrative or financial authority over, it is funded solely by donations and The Friends of Salt Springs... at least the last I heard.
You would be correct it's still funded by Friends of Salt Springs. For being a non state park, state park it makes it more note worthy how good of a job they do with maintenance.
